Domestic Test Procedures
American Backflow Inspectors (ABI)
will begin making phone calls prior to the start of the testing in your zip code
area. Every effort will be made to contact the customer prior to performing the
test, however with several thousand devices to be tested it may not be possible
to speak with everyone personally. It is the customer’s responsibility to have
their device clear and accessible for the inspection.
Initial Test – The initial test will be performed and a copy of the test results will be left at the business or emailed or faxed to you if no one is present. Any failures will be noted on the test form. If there are failures, it will result in a failed test.
First Follow-up Test – If the device fails the initial test, a follow-up test will be scheduled for 30 days following the initial test. Your test form will have a retest date noted. It is the customer’s responsibility to have the device repaired and ready for re-test within the allotted time frame. There will be an additional charge for each test performed.
Second Follow-up Test – If the device failed the second test, a follow-up test will be scheduled for 14 days following the initial test. Your test form will have a retest date noted. It is the customer’s responsibility to have the device repaired and ready for re-test within the allotted time frame. There will be an additional charge for each test performed.
After the third failed test ABI will notify the Water District that the device is not in compliance with regulations. This will result in a discontinuation of water service to this location. Water service will not be restored until the customer has the device repaired or replaced within the specified time frame.
If you have any questions regarding the testing program, please call ABI at (615) 366-8983. We will be happy to answer your questions or concerns.
If you would prefer to obtain your test results via Email, please send your name, address and email to:
